Films

Our mission at Other Vision Studios is to “Fill the world with stories.” The primary way we do that is through original films. While many of our stories are “Other Vision Originals” we also partner with other creatives to bring their visions to life. If you've got a story you want to tell and you need a production team to help you tell it then we should talk!

C’est La Vie

Our award winning short film staring Adam Webber and Beth Hill Martin and directed by Collins Abbott White.

Beyond the experience of making the film, the final locked and rendered video sits in a surreal place. A theater of the absurd if you will. A vivid and disturbing representation of our anti-hero’s view of “self” blended with the real-world unraveling of his life. It is the story of a life spiraling out of control, battered about by circumstances, where it seems like all choices are taken out of his hands as he is tossed from one soul crushing tragedy to another. I find myself at some points pitying him, and at some points identifying with him. I hope that as an audience you will have a similar relationship with our main character, and that his life will spark self reflection and conversation.

C’est La Vie is the result from what happens when a group of creatives bands together over a weekend brining all their enigmatic energy and talents to the table with the singular goal of making an incredible art film.

Originally made as part of a 48 Hour Film Festival, C’est La Vie has been re-edited and expanded on for a wider audience.

In a director’s statement it is generally accepted that I would talk about the plot, or the things that mattered most to me going into the film, and I will, but I would be remise if I didn’t talk about what this film actually means to me and what it showed me both as a filmmaker, and as a collaborator.

This was the first time I had ever taken the 48 Hour Film challenge, and I was apprehensive to say the least. I was working with a new crew, under sever time and resource restraints with now budget. Even on some of the biggest projects I’ve worked on there have been times it felt like I was putting the cart on my back to get it across the line, and I was afraid this would be no exception. The night before production began we all met to go over the script (that was finished 10 minutes after that meeting started), and we sat there for an hour brainstorming what we would do the next day. In short order all of my fears disappeared and I was certain we were going to make something special. Each crew member was fully engaged from the word go, bringing every resource they had, calling in every favor, coming up with new ideas and running with, taking complete ownership of their roles. The experience of making this film did wonders to bolster my faith in my fellow filmmakers, and to show me a new deeper level of collaboration than I had ever felt. The quality of this film is down to the group of people that came together to make it happen, and each member of the cast and crew should be recognized for what they brought to the table.

After a fatal accident sends a long haul trucker into a spiral, he seeks solace in something new and exciting only to discover he wasn't the only one looking for relief from that fateful night.

Written Off: America’s Failure to Educate Dyslexic Children

Now Available On Prime Video, and Tubi.

Dyslexics are an under served segment of the public school student body. If your child has Dyslexia, the stories of the parents and teachers in our documentary are familiar to you. You may be feeling like that your child is being left behind as they struggle with concepts many of their peers grasp with ease. You may also be seeing your child loose confidence and start to think they just aren’t as smart as the other kids. None of this is true. Dyslexia isn’t as much a disability as it is a whole set of abilities that non-dyslexics don’t have, and the public education system is not equipped to teach dyslexics in a way they can learn. However, schools like Lakes and Bridges are paving the way by offering free education specifically directed at students with dyslexia to prepare them for success.

A must see film for educators in what needs to be done to help the 20% of the population that has dyslexia. We can do better!

It was a pleasure working with Collins White on this story about a school that is making a difference in so many lives. It not only tells about the hardships dyslexic students face in public school but the impact on their families as well.
Families of Lakes and Bridges ‘ students will be forever indebted to the founders and others who made this school possible.

37 Ghosts

A hired gun, haunted by the ghosts of his past kills, and struggling with guilt, goes on his final hit.

Why do I so often do the things I hate? Harvey knows what he is doing is wrong. He tries every day to find forgiveness. Father Andrew grows weary of the hours he spends hearing Harvey talk around the problem without actually confessing what he has done. Harvey is a hit man who wants another job. The problem is, he can’t get away from the ghosts. Every one, all 36 victims, show up at various, inconvenient times to jibe at him. They are beginning to throw him off his game and distract him from the job at hand. All of them, that is, except the first one. Angelica wasn’t the target, her father was. She got in the way, and now Harvey can’t sleep —her face is always there, her voice in his head. She says she forgives him. Why can’t that be enough?

Harvey decides to quit playing the game and get out of the business. The Boss said he could leave any time. His wife is begging him to take her on a long vacation, and he almost has enough to visit Venice. Just one more time, and he will be home free. He promises. A dark night, a single shot to the chest of the victim, collect the cash and take off. It would be simple, if the Ghosts would just leave him alone.
